APPROVE: Wiki Policies (2014)

In light of kicking off the Wiki Consensus board, I thought it would be a good idea to have the community participate in its first consensus vote! :) This also gives me the chance to finally use this voting system I set up forever ago...

So, this is a voting thread in approving the wiki policies as they are currently written. I feel it's important that the community express their opinions on these policies--not just because they govern what they can and can't do on this wiki, but also because wikis are intended to be led by the community and not an administrator/monarch like me. :P

I intend to make this approval an annual vote (which is why I added the year to the thread title). Each year, as the policies keep being revised, we'll have the community review them and sustain its current revision. Although I think I'd like to have the vote at the very beginning of the year, so I'll set up another one of these in January 2015.

As I mentioned, this is the first trial run of this new voting system. The instructions below should be straightforward, but if there's any confusion, please let me know. :)

^ Aww, thanks Zaralith. :) I personally think the policies are not quite perfect yet (although that could just be my perfectionism kicking in), but they're good enough for now, and that's the purpose of this vote. So thank you for your support, Zaralith; it really means a lot.

^ Wow, how do I follow up that? Thank you so much for your kind words. ^_^ It's been almost 4 full years for me (entering my 5th in July), and it's been such a pleasure to edit and organize stuff here. I really do enjoy every minute of it, even when it took tons of time out of my nightmarishly busy college schedule. Thank goodness I'm nearly graduated now, but I'll still be busy at my new internship as a content writer.

Speaking of which, I showed them some of my work on this wiki, and they were really impressed! So there's my tip for all wiki users: keep active on a wiki because it pays off. You can add it to your resume and show it off during interviews, and it really does add to your professional persona. I suppose it had more benefits to me as an English major, but I'm sure it can apply to others as well (like graphic design or website building/managing). Or miscellaneously, wiki stuff can always be counted as volunteer work. ;)

Anyway, thanks again Zaralith - you're definitely someone I can call a friend as well. :)

Anyway, I think the wiki policies are fine. I just wish more people read them.

^ Haha, I didn't think of it like that! And I agree, I wish people would be more engaged in reading policies. I think one major and obvious reason (other than people are lazy) is that they're typically not too easy to read through. I've tried as best as I could to simplify it, but there's always room for improvement: more lists, more to-the-point phrases, more text formatting, etc. I think I'll give this method another try sometime in the future...
