- The scene where Po keeps winning at mahjong is a throwback to the Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness episode "In With the Old", in which he initially hated mahjong but once being inspired by kung fu masters Mr. Yeung and Mrs. Gow, he became motivated to play and win, making it his favorite table game.
- It is also a similar throwback to the Kung Fu Panda: Tales of Po level "The Wrong Way to Mahjong", in which Po similarly asked, "Seriously, who plays mahjong?"
- This episode revealed Wing and Wong as the first (potentially) LGBTQ couple in the franchise.
