China, like the rest of the world, came into being through the harmony of the Eternal Chord. Hundreds of years ago, Oogway came to China after journeying around the world, and settled in the Valley of Peace. It was here that he "unlocked the mysteries of harmony and focus" and invented the art of kung fu. As various menaces arose to threaten China, Oogway's art became more widespread, with numerous masters using it to battle against evil. Sadly, there would be those who would employ its power for their own evil gains, such as Oogway's former comrade Kai.
