Alien Rice Weevils, also known as Hong, are a group of rice weevils from the moon that want to take over the world.[2] They were featured as the main antagonists in the episode "See No Weevil" from Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.

History[]

In Legends of Awesomeness[]

In the episode “Hear No Weevil,” the deluded General Tsin desperately tries to explain to Po about “Evil Space Weevils” that invade people’s minds after rampaging a rice mill. After he is carried off by Master Shifu and the Furious Five, Po is thanked by an odd-ball goat couple, both named Hong, and offered a bag of rice, which Po later regarded as “smelling like a bag of old feet.” When Po later returns to meet Shifu and the Furious Five back at the Jade Palace underground prison, General Tsin continues to rant about the space Weevils, saying the only way to stop them is to put a copper pot on your head, splash your face with tea, and to then sing a tea song. As he continues on his rantings, he mentions that a quality they all share is that they all call themselves Hong, which then caused Po to suspect that Tsin might not be so crazy about all of this after all. Upon returning to the mill, Po realizes that the General was right, and is captured, knocked out, and wrapped in silk by several Weevils.

Supervisor Hong.

Once Po awakens from his daze, Supervisor Hong reveals his plan and states that the only person who ever caught on was General Tsin. He then signals for the other Weevils to leave the room so that he may take control of Po. He then proceeds to crawl into his ear, and state that “your mind is mine, Dragon Warrior.” Po fights this trance using the methods given to him by the General, knocking out the Supervisor and then proceeding to squash him with his foot (leaving him alive). Po returns to the Jade Palace to warn the others, whom had unfortunately already been taken over by the Weevils that he had unknowingly brought with him in the rice bag. He then pretends to be a fellow Weevil as to avoid a possible fight. They accept this, and Po can then use his disguise to free the General. After some confusion, the General and Po escape to Mr. Ping’s noodle shop, requesting that they get all of the copper pots that he owns.

While Mr. Ping gathers the pots, the General is taken over by a Weevil while Po goes to check on the rest of the village. Not soon later, Shifu and the Five arrive in town. Po is then seemingly cornered having seven different warriors to fight at once. When all hope seems lost, Mr. Ping arrives with the Copper pots, and Po uses them to knock all of the Weevils, once they are all knocked out, they are put inside of Tsin’s sleep-freezing machine and are frozen in place. Supervisor Hong tried to vow their revenge, but is then squashed by Tsin. The Weevils are then put into a jar and said to have been sent to the Chorh-Gom Prison.

Personalities[]

The Weevils have an “Alien-like” personality, this may be because they are said to have been from the moon. They aren’t driven by anything other than their goal to take over the minds of everyone in The Valley Of Peace. They are determined and selfish, doing whatever they can to accomplish their goal, including taking over the Furious Five, Master Shifu, and General Tsin. Even after being squashed and defeated, Hong was still determined that one day they will accomplish their goal and have their revenge.

Fighting style and abilities[]

The Weevils are shown to have the ability to crawl into the minds of other living things and completely take control of their bodies. Once they are in control, they will possess all of the abilities that their host previously possessed.

Trivia[]

  • The Alien Rice Weevils themselves are a reference to popular alien conspiracy theories, the copper pots most likely being a stand in for tin foil hats.
