—Jade Tusk to Nu Hai, Jing, Bao and Fan Tong, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny |
Jade Tusk is a secondary antagonist in the Amazon Prime series Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. She serves as assistant to Jindiao, the series' main antagonist.[1]
However, after her reformation during the defeat of Jindiao, Jade Tusk became an ally to the Pandas as well as a mentor to Xiao.
Biography[]
In The Paws of Destiny[]

Jade Tusk threatening the four panda children for passage to the temple of the Four Constellations
Jade Tusk is a strong and loyal soldier who strictly adheres to her principles.
She is first seen when one of her underlings approaches her with the unfortunate news that four panda children had found the entrance to the Wellspring before she could. Jade Tusk tells her subordinate that it is not her that she should be apologizing to, but instead their Master, Jindiao. Jade Tusk watches unfazed as Jindiao enacts his punishment on the soldier for her failure. Later, she goes to the Panda Village and threatens Nu Hai, Bao, Fan Tong, and Jing and demands that they reveal the location of the entrance to the Wellspring. They tell Jade Tusk that they do not know how to open the temple- which Jade Tusk doesn't believe. Before things can get too serious, however, Po comes to the panda children's rescue. Jade Tusk and her water deer get into a physical tussle with the Dragon Master and the four children and she quickly gains the upper hand. However, the panda children unlock their Chi powers and blast her soldiers away, forcing them to retreat.
Personality[]
Jade Tusk is a brave and strong warrior who is loyal to a fault. She is very direct and doesn't take nonsense from anybody. She is also ready and willing to do anything to get her way, including threatening to hurt and kill the panda children. Her serious demeanor also makes her quite intimidating. Despite this, inside Jade Tusk truly has a soft heart and is willing to make sacrifices to see others succeed.
Fighting style and abilities[]

Jade Tusk in her kung-fu stance
After learning kung fu at a young age from Jindiao, Jade Tusk became skilled in hand-to-hand combat and the use of ranged weapons.
Typically, Jade Tusk would rather send her water deer underlings to fight for her in confrontations- only directly fighting when she feels forced or is at an apparent advantage. She is also not a heavy weapon user, instead opting to use her fists in hand-to-hand combat or Kung Fu.
Relationships[]
Jindiao[]
Jade Tusk cared greatly for Jindiao since he took her in when she was little. It was Jindiao who gifted Jade Tusk with her prosthetic tusk in exchange for her loyalty. Jade Tusk cared much for Jindiao's well-being and became willing to do anything to help him achieve his goals. But when Jindiao betrayed her, Jade Tusk saw the truth and helped imprison him in the Spirit Urn. Afterwards, Jade Tusk went on to find a new purpose in helping others.
Xiao[]
Jade Tusk saw Xiao as her student and claimed that their lives were similar. Jade Tusk told Xiao she would come if a candle was placed in the window. Jade Tusk gave Xiao lessons in kung fu and gave her prosthetic tusk to her, with which Xiao had crafted into a small blade and later attached to a chain.
Clothing[]
Jade Tusk wears a dark red sleeveless qipao with burgundy trim and small golden fire-like designs at the sides. Her pants are dark orange with a diamond-like design. Her ankles and wrists are wrapped in bandages. Her most iconic feature is her one jade tusk that is displayed on the left side of her face.
Trivia[]
- Jade Tusk is a Water Deer, a small deer species found in Asia- specifically parts of China and Korea. Unlike other deer species, they do not have antlers but instead long tusks that are used for display, defense, and offense.
