Discussion is used on the Kung Fu Panda Wiki as means to discuss any improvements to the wiki, as well as help assist in general interaction between members of the online wiki community. It is considered an important aspect of the wiki and has thus been placed under some guidelines to help sustain a happy, wholesome, and social online community.

General

These are the universal rules that apply to all pages with discussion features. Any messages that break these rules will be removed on the spot and its poster may face consequences.

  • Always show respect for other users and their opinions. This wiki stands by the belief that every human being is entitled to their opinion. Users will not make personal attacks on other users, nor attempt to silence their personal views. Such behavior is intolerable and will have immediate consequences.
  • Always use appropriate language. Because we're a wiki about a subject primarily targeted to children, any words or phrases above a PG rating is considered inappropriate for this site. Please show respect to our readers and other users by never using such language.
    • In select cases where a message is out of context (like quoting) and you feel it's necessary to include a particular inappropriate word, censor it with asterisks (****). However, we will not allow this action to be used against other users; doing so violates the first bulletpoint and will result in consequences.
  • Please post all messages in English. Because we are the English version of the Kung Fu Panda Wiki, all material submitted to this wiki must entirely be in English. Any messages submitted in any other language (in whole or in part) will be removed. (See our Deletion Policy for more details.)
  • Use proper text formatting. Please avoid posting messages (entirely or in large part) in ALL CAPS, bold, italics, or any other format separate from regular text format. Such messages tend to give off an inappropriate sense of anger or excitement that may be taken as spam or a troll post.
  • Keep all messages relevant to the topic. Messages on this wiki should always stay on-topic to the given subject, not act as a social conversation between users.
    • EXCEPTION: User message walls generally do not apply to this rule. However, if there is a case where a conversation is getting too topically out-of-hand, an admin may interfere.
  • Properly flag all qualifying spoiler content. See our Spoiler Policy for more information.
  • No spamming, flaming, or trolling. Spamming encompasses any messages that take up space and do not instigate conversation (e.g. nonsense posts, double-posts, etc). Flaming and trolling includes any messages that are angry/hostile in nature and are unreasonable. Any assertions or criticisms made should sound reasonable and be properly backed up with reasoning and evidence.
  • No advertising. Do not comment on a page simply to tell about or link to your fan-made material, website, blog, or anything else unrelated to the wiki. Any messages that are advert in nature or contain non-discussion-related links or material will be removed.
  • All forms of piracy is prohibited. Do not link to, upload, or discuss in any form (asking, naming, etc.) illegal filesharing of media. This includes but is not limited to: videos on YouTube or a similar video-hosting website with a large (if not full) amount of copyrighted content, torrent files/sites/programs, proxies, unofficial streams/downloads, etc. Piracy posts will be swiftly removed and its poster likewise may face swift consequences.

Message Walls

  • Where possible, avoid short and excessive messages. Though users are permitted to discuss non-wiki-related topics on walls, they are not meant to act as an instant messenger with excessive short replies. Such messages tend to flood the page and the wiki's Recent Changes list. For instant messaging activities, please use a purpose-designed website or application instead.
  • To a certain extent, users may remove and/or modify other users' posts on their own wall. Some eligible reasons for this:
    • Obvious spam or offensive posts
    • Conversations that are completely irrelevant to the topic
    • Archiving

Article comments

This section lists the basic guidelines on how you should conduct yourself on pages with the comments feature enabled (designated in areas labeled "Comments"). For more details on its usage, see Help:Comments.

  • Please try to use correct English spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Doing this helps others to be able to read your comment easier, and also makes them more likely to reply. This is more of a guideline rather than an enforced rule, but it shows common courtesy to your fellow readers and commenters.

Forums

General

Before contributing to the Kung Fu Panda Wiki Forums, please keep in mind a few best practices for conduct:

  1. Be nice and treat people with respect. People from all around the world read and edit this wiki and its forums. Like any other collaborative project, not everyone will agree all the time. Keep all discussions civil and be open-minded about differing opinions. We're all here because we love the same topic.
  2. Try to find existing threads first, but don't be afraid to start a new thread. Please take a moment to sift through the Kung Fu Panda Wiki Forums to see if a thread already exists about something you want to talk about. If you can't find what you're looking for, jump right in and start a new thread!
  3. Ask for help. Notice something that doesn't seem right? Have a question about something? Ask for help here on the forums! If you need help from FANDOM staff, please reach out on Community Central or via Special:Contact.
  4. Have fun! The Kung Fu Panda Wiki community is happy to have you here. We look forward to seeing you around as we discuss this topic we all love!

Threads

Our Discussion Policy states that we use pages with discussion features on this wiki to "help assist in general interaction between members of the online wiki community." Similar to this goal, the primary purpose of the Kung Fu Panda Wiki Forums is to actively engage the community in friendly, topic-related discussion. In the interest of upholding this purpose, we want to try as best as we can to keep the Forums free of "clutter" (i.e. threads that do not serve the primary purpose).

There are three major categories of threads that are considered "clutter". Please do not post:

  • Topics of great similarity to another thread. As stated above in #2, please look through existing threads first before starting a new thread.
  • Anything that does not engage discussion, such as advertisements or meaningless statements. Any kind of post that doesn't require input from the community (with the exception of wiki announcements) is prohibited.

Fun & Games board

  • Try to keep games related somehow to Kung Fu Panda. In light of keeping all content related to the wiki topic, please try to relate your game to Kung Fu Panda and not other topics. For example, a simple word game could involve KFP characters/places/other such subjects instead of its "original" ones.
  • No games that require people to upload images or videos. We would like to keep our file database clean of useless files that cannot (or will not) be used in a wiki article.
  • No roleplaying games. Aside from the forums not being the most efficient/ideal for roleplaying, we are still enforcing our "Not" Policy in prohibiting the publishing of original fan work.

FAQ

How do I stay on top of threads I'm interested in?

With a FANDOM user account, you can follow specific conversations and then receive notification messages (either on-site or via email) when a thread has more activity. Be sure to sign up for a FANDOM account if you don't already have one.

How do I remove vandalism?

If you notice some spam or vandalism on a thread, hover your mouse over the post and you'll see a "More" button appear. Inside the "More" menu, you'll find "Remove". This will allow you to remove the vandalism and optionally inform an admin.

What is Karma?

If you find a particular post interesting, well thought out, or even amusing, you can show direct appreciation by giving it Karma. It can be helpful in voting circumstances as well.

What are topics?

Topics allow you to link a forum thread with an article on the wiki. It's essentially another way to keep Forums organized and to help people find interesting discussions. For example, a Forum thread tagged with "Lord Shen" will appear at the bottom of the "Lord Shen" article.
