This article is about the room featured in Kung Fu Panda 3. For other uses, see Scroll (disambiguation).

There's so much wisdom in here, I can't find anything.

The scroll room (also titled "Jade Palace Scroll Room") is a room located in the Jade Palace. It is "an archive of kung fu history and knowledge," with well over a thousand scrolls stored in its shelves.[2] It was first featured in Kung Fu Panda 3 when Shifu sought knowledge about Kai after an attack by his jade zombies. It is also a playable level in Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends.

Description

Kung Fu Panda 3 art director Max Boas describes the scroll room as "an ancient library with the feel of a slightly messy, neglected attic that no one has been in for years."[2] The room is indeed unkempt, as the scrolls are messily strewn all over the room. Shifu alludes to this when he says, "There's so much wisdom in here, I can't find anything." Some piles of scrolls have also collected a significant layer of dust, as when Shifu leaps down from one of the shelves and onto one of the piles, a cloud of dust forms at his feet.[1]

Trivia

  • There are approximately 1,600 scrolls in the scroll room. According to Kung Fu Panda 3 modeling supervisor Jason Turner, they were clustered into groups of fifty when constructing the room for the film, as it would otherwise "bring the render system to its proverbial knees."[2]
